Archdiocesan Choir
Mission: The Archdiocesan Choir serves the faithful of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati by leading them in sung prayer for our archdiocesan liturgies, inspiring beauty through sacred music, and lifting their voices in joyful praise to God with the patrimony of sacred music, both old and new, in service to His Church.
Purpose: The Archdiocesan Choir serves our faithful community by leading them in sung prayer and active participation in major liturgical events at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains. We sing at ordinations, Chrism mass, and other liturgies throughout the year, and serve as a model liturgical chorus for the parishes in our archdiocese. We seek to draw people into a deeper relationship with God through the beauty and truth found in the best liturgical music.
Membership: The Archdiocesan Choir is open to all adult Catholics of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati who commit to the mission of our choir and to the schedule of rehearsals and liturgies. Choir members are expected to have an above average choral voice, sing with good intonation, and blend well with other voices. The ability to read music is preferred (but not required), and members are selected based on their vocal abilities and their commitment to prayerful worship through music.
When: There will be 3 rehearsals on Sunday evenings prior to a liturgy. These rehearsals are from 7:15 8:45 p.m. in the choir room at the Cathedral Basilica. A schedule of rehearsals and liturgies can be found here.
