Rubric number 13 of Good Friday in the Roman Missal indicates that “In a situation of grave public need, the Diocesan Bishop may permit or order the addition of a special intention.”
In light of circumstances in the world today, Archbishop Casey permits the addition of the following intercession for the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday in 2026.

INVITATION
Deacon or Cantor: Let us pray also for an end to war,
that our God and Lord be pleased
to inspire diplomacy and dialogue,
so that peace may be sustained.
SILENT PRAYER
PRAYER
Priest: Almighty ever-living God,
You sent your Son to walk among us
and to bring your message of peace
near the very area which is now torn by war.
Watch over all those
who are overshadowed by conflicts around the world:
protect innocent civilians,
guard soldiers in battle,
and shelter worshipping communities,
so that the voices of diplomacy
will silence the weapons of war.
Through Christ our Lord.

Oremos también por el fin de la guerra,
