SUMMARY:Orton-Gillingham Multisensory - Reading Practicum II
DESCRIPTION:Online Course\n – Audience: Participants who have completed Practicum I with a grade of B or higher and have the recommendation from their Master Teacher. \nImportant Session Information:\nIn this important Orton-Gillingham follow-up course\, master teachers continue to coach teachers who have taken the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I ONLINE in implementing multisensory\, structured language instruction. As part of this course\, teachers must document 60 hours of multisensory teaching through lesson plans and samples of student work under the supervision of a master teacher over a period of at least 9 months\, monitoring student’s progress. Using the Edthena Platform\, master teachers will observe 6 lessons\, providing corrective feedback during the planning and delivery of these lessons. Master teachers will evaluate the documentation of the 60 hours of instruction and progress monitoring\, as well. Participants will read and respond to the book\, The Reading Mind: A Cognitive approach to understanding how the mind reads by Daniel T.Willingham. This course is required for Orton-Gillingham Certification at the Teaching-Practitioner Level. \n\nOptional College Credit can be purchased at an additional cost through Mount St. Joseph University \n\nHybrid Course\n\n\n\n\nUsing data from the initial assessment\, plan taylored lessons and progress monitor student’s growth throughout the course.\nPlan and implement systematic\, explicit\, multisensory language instruction that meets the guidelines of the National Reading Panel and has been proven to be most effective in teaching students with Dyslexia and other reading difficulties.\nLearn how to incorporate Orton-Gillingham (OG) methodology into their core and intervention reading programs.\n\nImportant Session Information:\nIn this important Orton-Gillingham follow-up course\, master teachers visit the classrooms of teachers who have taken the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I to coach teachers in implementing multisensory\, structured language instruction in small and large group settings. As part of this course\, teachers must document 64 lessons of multisensory teaching through lesson plans and samples of student work under the supervision of a master teacher over a nine-month period. This course is required for receiving Orton-Gillingham Certification at the Teaching Level.
