SUMMARY:Using Interactive\, Differentiated Strategies to Engage and Equip ALL Learners (Four-part series)
DESCRIPTION:Tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners is difficult enough in face-to-face settings\, let alone in the digital world. The recent challenges that accompany oscillating learning environments have shone a spotlight on the varying needs of students\, leaving many teachers wondering if it’s possible to move all students forward while attending to their different learning needs. \n\n\nThis series of four interactive workshops led by Kristina Doubet will feature tools—both traditional and digital—that can help teachers engage\, support\, and challenge diverse learners in a variety of learning settings. Participants will experiment with tools and strategies\, study classroom examples\, and “meet” with colleagues to discuss how they might engage\, support\, and challenge every learner to take their next steps. \n\n\n\n\nSession 1: Creating a Collaborative\, Supportive\, Interactive Learning Environment \n\n\n\n\nSession 2: Strategies to Harness Interests and Learning Preferences \n\n\n\n\nSession 3: Strategies to Differentiate for Readiness \n\n\n\n\nSession 4: Flexible Grouping and Classroom (or Online) Management \nRegister

Learn to teach students how to: \n\nState the answer or inference in a topic sentence that repeats key words from the question or prompt\nIntroduce text evidence that blends the author’s words with the reader’s own sentence syntax\nInclude elaboration and explanation to clarify the connection between answer and evidence\n\nThis edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 English language arts teachers\, school and district leaders\, and instructional coaches. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation. \nAbout the Presenter \nKristina Smekens has built a reputation for using enthusiasm\, humor\, and common sense to equip K-12 educators with practical\, demystifying strategies for teaching reading and writing. SUMMARY:TAKE ACTION TODAY: Urge members of Congress to advance an Afghan Adjustment Act
DESCRIPTION:Fulfill Our Commitment to Afghan Families: Advance an Afghan Adjustment Act with Fiscal Year 2022 Appropriations \nAs a Catholic concerned for our new Afghan neighbors and your constituent\, I urge you to follow through on our commitment to provide lasting safety and security to Afghan individuals and families by moving forward an Afghan Adjustment Act with Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations.  \nSince August of 2021\, the U.S. has welcomed thousands of Afghans\, many of them children. These Afghan allies and their families are at risk of harm if they are unable to receive long-term safety and permanent legal status in the U.S. \nCongress must immediately support and pass an Afghan Adjustment Act\, which would lift the cloud of legal uncertainty of parole that Afghans currently have and\, instead\, offer them the opportunity to apply to become lawful permanent residents—the same legal status they would have received had they been admitted as refugees. This is crucial to ensure their successful integration and would involve a formal application process that includes background checks\, consistent with previous adjustment acts. The last thing we want is to see any of these people added to our country’s undocumented population or forced to return to danger. \nPlease pass an Afghan Adjustment Act without further delay. \nClick the link below to log in and send your message:\nhttps://www.votervoice.net/BroadcastLinks/PBlHkfvY9OoW4i7UaFbk0A
