SUMMARY:Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I (An Online Course) -
DESCRIPTION:Important Session Information:\nThe Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I Online encompasses 16 weeks of instruction\, including 45 hours of lecture and a 16-hour practicum. Using the Edthena platform\, participants upload their lessons and videos of their instruction\, enabling instructors to give specific feedback at point of need on both planning and implementation of OG methodology. The maximum instructor/participant ratio in any cohort is 8:1.\nOptional College Credit can be purchased for an additional cost through Mount St. Joseph University. \nWho Should Attend\nK-12 educators\, reading specialists\, speech-language pathologists\, intervention specialists and reading tutors. \nMust have a Bachelor’s Degree \nClick Here to RSVP

SUMMARY:Skills for Disagreeing Better - St. Charles\, Carthagena
DESCRIPTION:This Skills for Disagreeing Better is a free workshop with Braver Angels that helps participants understand the values and concerns of those who differ from them politically and teaches essential skills for communicating across differences and finding common ground. \nIn this polarized time\, we lack basic understanding of why people on the other political side hold their beliefs. We don’t see them as they see themselves–their core values and central concerns–but instead as we choose to see them. We are tempted to regard our own side as principled and the other side as self-interested. \nAnd when we try to communicate across this gap\, we often lack the skills for listening carefully\, looking for common ground\, and sharing our perspectives in ways that connect rather than create more misunderstanding. \nWe can learn to disagree better in polarized times\, which means accurately seeing where we differ and where we share common ground. \nGoals of the workshop: \n\nMore understanding of the values and concerns of people who differ from you politically\nBetter skills for listening in a way the other person feels heard\nBetter skills for sharing viewpoints in a way the other person might hear even if they disagree\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Skills For Disagreeing Better flyer pdf\n \n File size: 283.97 KB\n Created: 08-01-2024\n Updated: 08-01-2024\n Hits: 427\n \n \n \n \n \n Download\n \n \n \n Preview

SUMMARY:Depolarizing Within - Dayton Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Depolarizing Within Workshop is a free workshop with Braver Angels that helps participants look within to see how they are engaging or participating in polarizing ways. The workshop offers participants the tools to develop strategies for engaging in political discussion without demonizing the other side. It also shows how to constructively intervene in social conversations with like-minded peers. \nThis workshop is designed to foster skills to recognize and lessen the effects of polarization when encountered within political conversations with your like-minded circle. When referring to “polarization\,” Braver Angels is not referring to healthy disagreements over issues or philosophy. We are looking at how we regard and talk in polarizing terms about large groups of ordinary people on the other side of the political aisle. \nGoals of this workshop: \n\nDevelop strategies for engaging in political discussion without demonizing the other side\nConstructively intervene in social conversations with likeminded peers\nRecognize and lessen the effects of polarization when encountered within political conversations with your like-minded circle\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n flyer pdf Braver Angels Dayton workshops\n \n File size: 173.52 KB\n Created: 08-01-2024\n Updated: 08-01-2024\n Hits: 499\n \n \n \n \n \n Download\n \n \n \n Preview
