St. Veronica School in Mt. Carmel, OH is seeking a part-time Assistant Cook.
The Assistant Cook provides meals for the school. This position is part-time; working less than 30 hours per week and does not include medical or dental insurance. This position reports to the Cafeteria Manager.
Responsibilities and Regular Activities:
- Carves portions of meat, fish and fowl for individual servings using the accepted guidelines;
- Prepares salads, desserts, fruits and vegetables;
- Provides cooking services for lunches at the school;
- Provides special meals when requested;
- Cleans up kitchen after meals and washes dishes.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Cook a variety of meals;
- Present pleasant welcoming manner;
- Thorough knowledge of cooking and cleaning kitchen;
- Ability to lift 35 pounds;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Must be Serve Safe Certified or attend the class and pass the test;
- High School diploma is preferred with formal training in the food service field and/or nutrition and dietetic training are highly desirable;
- Knowledge of state and local regulations;
- Work experience in food service in a facility of comparable size.
Work Environment:
- School Cafeteria – may involve working with equipment and machinery including heating, cooling, slicing;
- May be exposed to a variety of cleaning chemicals.
