The Mother of God Family of Parishes (MGFP) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Children’s Faith Formation Assistant. This position reports to the Director of Children’s Faith Formation and provides administrative, organizational, and program support for a variety of children’s and youth faith formation programs throughout our Family of Parishes. The role works closely with catechists, families, volunteers, and parish staff to help create a welcoming and faith-filled experience for children and youth.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with program planning, event coordination, and hands-on activities.
  • Assist with the preparation, set-up, and clean-up of classrooms and event spaces.
  • Serve as a warm, welcoming, and faith-filled presence for children and families.
  • Coordinate and support catechists serving in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word ministry. Organize materials, maintain communication, ensure SafeParish compliance, and be present as needed.
  • Assist with First Reconciliation and First Communion sacramental preparation including retreats, meetings, and activities.
  • Assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of summer Bible Camp.
  • Provide support for youth ministry programs and events, including Edge, Ignite, Confirmation retreats, and other activities as needed.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Practicing Catholic who understands and supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Experience working with children, youth, families, catechists, and/or volunteers in a parish, school, or faith formation setting. Experience with religious education and/or sacramental preparation preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple programs, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work positively with children, parents, catechists, volunteers, and parish staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, professionalism and appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in the use of email, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and other digital tools.
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week, including Sunday evenings during the religious education school year and occasional additional weekend and evening times as needed.
  • Flexibility to work at three different campuses as needed – Ascension, St. Albert the Great and St. Charles Borromeo, all located in Kettering.
