The Our Lady of Hope Family of Parishes (OLOH) Director of Music Ministry serves the parish as principal musician, pianist/organist, and choir director, according to the high standards established by this profession, with the goal of enhancing the sacred atmosphere of the liturgy. The Director of Music Ministry supports the pastor’s responsibilities with the liturgy. S/he is responsible for providing musical direction and coordination. This role involves planning and leading music for liturgical celebrations, fostering active participation through sacred music, and collaborating with clergy, leadership, staff and volunteers to enhance worship and ministry experiences. OLOH is in Warren County, southeast of Dayton and North of Cincinnati.

Primary Responsibilities:

Musical Leadership – Provides piano and/or organ accompaniment and conducts music for weekend Masses within OLOH and school Masses. Conducts and coordinates the OLOH Adult Choir(s). Guides and oversees Children’s Choir(s) with music support staff and volunteers to foster musical and spiritual growth. Organizes the schedule of musician rotation to provide music for special liturgies including weddings (per-instance stipend), funerals, and major solemnities and feasts throughout the liturgical year. Provides music for OLOH special events and occasions. Attendance at parish administrative meetings.  Additional managerial responsibilities considered, dependent upon the successful candidate.

Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in music, liturgical studies or related field or equivalent experience.
    2. A practicing Catholic with knowledge of Catholic liturgy.
    3. Keyboard skills: Piano required, Organ strongly preferred.
    4. Ability to direct choirs and congregational singing.
    5. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with volunteers of various ages.
