Position Summary:
Reports to the Vice President for Advancement. Maintain X-Travaganza’ s reputation as one of the finest and most successful dinner auction events in the Greater Cincinnati area. Director has two direct reports and manages numerous volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Identifies and helps recruit general chairs and aids them in recruiting the best possible chairs for the various auction committees. Provides chairs and committees with necessary support and materials to achieve success.
  • Sets and maintains a timing and action calendar, by committee, with proper follow-up to ensure a proper pace of activity. Communicates plans, goals and results.
  • Influences budget control over expenses by category. Authorizes payment of all bills. Oversees the collection of revenues (cash gifts, reservations, gift purchases, etc.)
  • Ensures that all gift acknowledgments are mailed within one week or less.
  • Works closely with gift-gathering volunteers to schedule individual parties without conflicting events; coordinates attendance of school officials at gift-gathering parties and committee meetings.
  • Prepares and submits printed reports on a regular basis to the director of communications and events and the vice president for development concerning auction programs and events, including a yearly listing of goals and timetables.
  • Collaborates with the director of communications in the preparation of printed materials, digital and social media, flyers and publicity articles and in communicating needs, activities and results in the St. Xavier Magazine, monthly calendar/newsletter and other publications.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.

Skills and Other Required Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a sincere understanding of effective human relations techniques; a team player.
  • Communications skills, both oral and written.
  • An understanding of special events for fund raising and public relations.
  • An understanding of philanthropy, fund-raising ethics, and practices.
  • Knowledge of information systems applicable to development, especially special events.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a High School degree. A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.

  • Experience in fundraising is preferred; experience as a volunteer in education and in the Cincinnati area with knowledge of Jesuits are desirable.
