Grade 2: Teacher/Full-Time: As a teacher within The Summit Country Day’s Lower School, the 2nd Grade Teacher reports to the Lower School Director.  The selected individual will engage students in high quality learning experiences.  This person will also be actively engaged in teaching English/language arts, math and religion.

Responsibilities:

• Delivers upon a rigorous religion curriculum, upon rigorous English/language arts, math and religion curricula, within an interactive learning environment to provide exceptional results for all students.
• Provides classroom leadership which creates an environment which promotes academic, as well as social-emotional, wellbeing.
• Monitors student progress and assists students in accomplishing established learning objectives.
• Provides timely feedback to students and their parents on coursework and progress.
• Encourages students to develop their special talents within the context of the classroom.
• Attends course specific professional development to improve student learning.
• Posts all assignments, grades and classroom communique to the portal and proactively makes phone calls home and/or sends emails to parents.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in education or related fields
• Current Ohio teaching certification/license
• Be an active Catholic
• Demonstrated proficiency in related primary subjects
• Comprehensive understanding of best practices for lower school child education.
• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
