Primary Function of this Position 

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant (“the accountant”) is responsible for all functions related to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, working in Quickbooks and FACTS account management system.  The accountant will also record deposits, manage petty cash funds and assist with bank reconciliations.   They will also assist Finance Director in adherence with accounting policies and procedures; and other projects as assigned.

Major Position Responsibilities and Regular Activities

Accounts Payable

• Enters vendor invoices into the accounting system.
• Reconcile credit card charges into the accounting system.
• Cutting and disbursing checks
• Attaching vendor invoice in Quickbooks and filing of vendor invoices

Accounts Receivable

• Assist with setting up student accounts in FACT System
• Recording scholarship and payments in FACTS.
• Communication with families regarding their accounts

Deposits

• The accountant will make and record all NON tuition deposits as well

Reconciliation of bank accounts.

• Record in Quickbooks all electronic (ACH) withdrawal entries.
• Prepare bank reconciliation in Quickbooks

Position Specifications/Requirements           

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel (intermediate excel capabilities).
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, critically think, and handle multiple tasks.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

 Education, Training and/or Experience

• Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payables.
• High school fund accounting experience a plus
• Solid knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Previous experience with FACTS, Ed Choice and Jon Peterson a plus.
