a vision for love and action:
Becoming communities of Salt and light

Salt and Light is a 3-part* Love in Action opportunity to help your parish family Love in Action team understand why the vision of charity & justice is important, how this vision has developed in the history of the Church, what are the larger and small local organizations with which your parish can cooperate, and how to build on what you already have going on in your parishes (along with your resources of time, talent, and treasure) to create a growing vision of Love in Action in your parish family.

These programs can be offered anywhere in the Archdiocese, and the plan is that representatives from multiple families of parishes will attend each offering.

Registration Information

Given that a significant part of this program is designed to further form teams from families of parishes, registrations must be from families of parishes, not individuals.

It is important to bring a team of people to the Salt and Light Training Session, in order to make best use of the small group discussion and team planning aspects of the program. As your family of parishes considers who would be best to participate in the program, we invite you to consider the following check-list of potential invitations:

• Love in Action Coordinator
• Love in Action Committee (and/or members or representatives from your Respect Life, Human Concerns, and Social Justice Committees)
• Representatives from each parish
• Representatives from St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, and other service groups
• Parish Twinning Committee representative
• Representatives from diverse cultures present in your family
• Parishioners involved in charitable ministries, whether internally or externally focused

Once your family of parishes has decided on the desired representatives, please have one person – your Love in Action Coordinator or another volunteer – email us with your family of parishes’ name and the names and email addresses of those you expect to attend.

If your family of parishes has not yet participated, please reach out to your Love in Action coordinator or pastor to encourage participation. You can also reach out to us for support in bringing the program to your area.
