Prison Ministry Individual Volunteer Questions

*note: the potluck dinners happen every week and are open invitation, there’s no requirement to attend, but are helpful in getting to know the community of volunteers and grow together in faith while doing this ministry. It also helps for planning and organizing.
Would you like to try a one-time visit?
If yes, please answer the following questions.
Have you visited the prison in the past?
Are you related to or closely know anyone who is incarcerated in the state of Ohio?
Would you rather:
If you like to see a normal day in the prison ministry, which time slot(s) could you attend?
If you would like to come celebrate a feast day with one of our communities, which day(s) could you attend?
*note: these celebrations do not count for a Catholic’s obligation for Sundays or Holy Days of obligation, as most are transferred to fit the prison schedule, except if they actually occur on the Holy Day and Mass is celebrated. There are currently no Masses celebrated on Sundays in the prisons, they happen either on Monday or Thursday. It is by special permission of the Archbishop of Cincinnati for the pastoral good of the incarcerated that the Archdiocese Prison Ministry is able to celebrate the Sunday liturgy and transfer the observance of Holy Days of obligation to the nearest day that we have a time slot in the chapel for Mass.
