SUMMARY:Using MTSS to Address Learning Gaps: A Blended Learning Approach
DESCRIPTION:Join this edWebinar to learn how combining MTSS with blended learning can accelerate learning recovery for all students. \nWith the return to campus\, it is clear that our students have serious gaps in their educational programs. Intervention strategies post pandemic need to blend academic\, social\, and emotional support. In addition to learning loss\, have you noticed more temper tantrums (regardless of age)\, less resistance to change\, and more difficulty making friends? You are not alone. \nIn this edWebinar\, we will demonstrate some strategies and interventions that you can immediately use with your students. By using a systematic MTSS approach to intervention\, you can meet all your students where they are. MTSS is a framework that uses data to help match academic and social-emotional behavior assessments and instructional resources to each individual student’s needs. If you blend in-person and online teaching you can reach more students in less time\, in small groups and individually. \nJoin us as we go over these strategies and offer real-time solutions to getting back on track. This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 teachers\, school and district leaders\, and education technology leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Literacy Instruction in the Real World: How to Reach Each and Every Student
DESCRIPTION:The resurgence of equity as a buzzword in the media has resulted in an influx of vendors and thought leaders talking about the “best” ways to close equity gaps\, often without research to back it up. To truly make a difference for students\, educators need to focus on what the evidence says\, and the evidence points to literacy.\n\nLiteracy is at the heart of educational equity\, and today\, too many students are still not able to read proficiently. Educators need better support\, resources\, and tools to teach reading in a way that helps ALL students learn. Students and their learning needs are diverse\, but we have the research on how to reach each and every one of them. That research is the Science of Reading\, which is brought into the classroom through Structured Literacy and differentiated instruction.\n\nJoin this edWebinar with educational experts Dr. Carrie Doom and Michele Pulver to learn what literacy instruction needs to be equitable\, and how to implement those proven\, equitable instructional practices in our classrooms and schools today.\n\nThis edWebinar will be of interest to teachers and school and district leaders of the K-8 grades. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Pre-K is STILL the Place for Play
DESCRIPTION:In this edWebinar\, early childhood educators will receive simple tips on how to integrate purposeful play into their day-to-day practices in a developmentally appropriate way that supports children’s holistic development.\n\nEducators will be encouraged to continue to focus on using child-centered\, play-based approaches and intentional interactions to help their children to thrive\, and to encourage parents and guardians to do the same. This is especially important in the current environment where many Pre-K programs\, including publicly funded programs\, are becoming more academically driven and focused on rote learning\, which can be detrimental to children’s long-term development. This session aims to be as collaborative as possible with attendees encouraged to share their strategies and tips with each other as well.\n\nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Response to Intervention at Work
DESCRIPTION:Proven techniques to close learning gaps\nRTI is not a series of implementation steps to cross off on a list\, but a way of thinking about how educators can ensure each child receives the time and support needed to achieve success. This virtual workshop is designed for school teams who have started RTI but are still refining processes or experiencing challenges. The presenter has worked with hundreds of schools throughout North America and can help your school make RTI efficient\, effective\, and equitable. RTI work must be divided between collaborative teacher teams and two schoolwide teams (a leadership team and an intervention team). Together\, the entire school assumes responsibility for the learning of every student. \nAs an active virtual participant\, you will learn why bureaucratic\, paperwork-heavy\, compliance-oriented\, test-score-driven approaches fail\, and then discover how to create an RTI model that works. Acquire four essential guiding principles—collective responsibility\, concentrated instruction\, convergent assessment\, and certain access—and experience a simple process for bringing these principles to life in your school. \n\nDrive implementation using the four guiding principles.\nCreate a school leadership team to steer the shift to a culture of collective responsibility.\nUtilize collaborative teacher teams to define essential learnings.\nCreate a toolbox of effective interventions.\nBuild a schoolwide intervention team to address complex issues such as motivation\, attendance\, and behavior.\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Overcoming the Achievement Gap Trap
DESCRIPTION:Overcoming the Achievement Gap Trap Virtual Workshop: A Live 2-Day Event with Anthony Muhammad\nIn light of the mass movement for reform and fair treatment in the criminal justice system sparked by the death of George Floyd\, this workshop is more important than ever. A fairer and more equitable school system can be the catalyst for producing a better world outside of the school system. \nThis virtual workshop will address the connection between educator mindset and student achievement gaps. The achievement gap topic has been explored through many lenses\, including political\, economic\, and pedagogical. Despite these sincere efforts\, student achievement gaps in American schools are as large as they have ever been. Dr. Muhammad’s theory is that none of these well-intentioned policies or strategies will have a fighting chance in an environment where the educators possess a Superiority or Victim mindset. A Liberation mindset is the key to unlock the potential of our staff and students. \nThe workshop experience will include examining current constructs and the mistakes of the past. Once we have confronted the mistakes of the past\, we will start to examine our current reality and make concrete plans to create a Liberation mindset at our school. We recommend that the school send a diverse group of representatives\, which could include teacher leaders\, counselors\, school administrators\, and a district office representative. \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nUnderstand the facts about the American achievement gap and the factors and conditions that create it.\nRecognize the power of educator mindset on professional practice and student performance.\nExperience how to assess the current mindset of your school or district.\nCreate and learn how to apply a comprehensive school plan to transform your school into a Liberation mindset.\n\nRegister
