New Mass Formulary: Care for Creation

The Missal and Lectionary texts of the Mass “For the Care of Creation” / “Por el Cuidado de la creación” for use in the Dioceses of the United States of America were confirmed by decree of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments on August 4, 2026 (Prot. n. 447/26).

As a reminder, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is observed on September 1. Since this day (in 2026) is observed liturgically as a weekday of Ordinary Time, it is permissible to celebrate any Mass for Various Needs and Occasions, including the Mass “For the Care of Creation.” It may also be used at other times when the liturgical day permits the choice of a Mass for Various Needs and Occasions.
