Students often choose fiction books when given the choice of reading
materials. They often see nonfiction reading as reading that is done for school
instead of for personal enjoyment. We can help students find books that
they want to read “for fun” if we think differently about the books we have
available, the ways we use nonfiction in our teaching, and how we book talk
nonfiction books.
