SPARK: Specialized Programs: Advancing Resources and Knowledge – Audience: Intervention Specialist, related service providers, special education staff

  • Understand the characteristics and behaviors associated with ASD, embrace neurodiversity, and implement strength-based approaches to support students.
  • Equipped with strategies to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), implement differentiated instruction, utilize visual supports, and foster collaboration with families and support teams to promote academic growth and success in all learners.
  • Gain proficiency in applying Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, understanding and managing challenging behaviors, enhancing communication skills, promoting social skills and practicing self-care strategies to effectively support all students’ communication and behavior needs in the classroom.

Important Session Information:

Three-day training series and access to year-long coaching support and network of professionals within a community of practice.

During the training, participants will engage in interactive presentations, hands-on activities, case studies, and group discussions to deepen their understanding and develop practical skills for effectively supporting neurodiverse students in the classroom. By the end of the three-day training, educators will feel empowered with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to create inclusive and supportive learning environments where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

After the training, participants will receive 4 half-days of individualized classroom coaching to occur during the 2024-25 school year. Participants will also have membership to the SPARK cohort for the school year; this includes access to online resources, support as well as quarterly networking meetings.
