Summer Institute for Authentic Learning and Leadership

July 20 - July 21

Bring a team and join us for two inspiring days filled with hope, creativity, collaboration, and innovation. This conference will stimulate your thinking and feed your soul. You’ll be engaged in opportunities to envision authentic learning, be inspired by the work of others, personally experience authentic instructional strategies, and reflect on “lessons learned” and commit to next steps. Most importantly, you’ll find ways to help students connect intellectually and emotionally with their own learning.


“The Schools We Want” – Envisioning, prioritizing, and innovating “Keeping it Real” – Exploring service-learning, project-based learning, STEM/STEAM, design thinking, charrette workshops, and other ways to make learning more relevant “Students at the Center” – Reflecting on what students need and expect, and exploring strategies to intentionally address these priorities “Creating Innovators” – Helping students become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, effective communicators, and collaborative changemakers “Changemakers” – Interacting with educators, students, and business/community members who are making a difference through innovation and collaborative leadership “Paths and Possibilities” – Helping students engage in authentic career awareness, exploration, and planning experiences connected with their “gifts and fascinations” “Starting with Heart” – Enhancing empathy and sense of belonging for students and staff in our schools and communities “True Grit” – Building resilience, agency, and well-being in students and staff “This Stuff Works!” – Reflecting on success stories, lessons learned, and next steps  “Space Matters” – Exploring the impact of building design on 21st century teaching and learning “Time Matters” – Exploring creative approaches to scheduling; making optimal use of time to meet the needs of both students and staff “Of Course, You’re Creative!” – Exploring strategies that nurture new ways of thinking “Workshopping” – Collaborating to improve existing lessons/projects or create new ones  “All Hands On Deck” – Collaborating to solve authentic problems, create authentic products/designs, or use “maker spaces” in other creative and purposeful ways.
