Their initiatives aim to inspire a faith-driven response to climate change, emphasizing care for creation and the protection of vulnerable populations.
The Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist (OCVN) Program provides citizens across Ohio with an opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in the area of Ohio’s environment and natural history and apply what they learn through service to local parks, museums, nature centers, and arboretums. As Ohio’s population grows more urban, it is harder for people to make the connection to nature that ultimately allows them to value their local natural resources and thus have a reason to manage and conserve them for future generations. The mission of the OCVN program is to promote awareness and citizen stewardship of Ohio’s natural resources through science-based education and community service. The OCVN program is a research-based scientific training program that emphasizes hands on natural resource education coupled with community-based volunteer service. Certification involves completing 40 hours of instruction and 20 hours of volunteer service.

The Recycling Hub is a central facility in Cincinnati dedicated to enhancing the region’s recycling efforts. It provides a comprehensive solution for recycling various materials, including those that are not typically accepted in curbside programs. By offering convenient drop-off services and educational resources, the Recycling Hub helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and promote a culture of recycling within the community..
The Green Cincinnati Plan is the city’s strategic framework for advancing environmental sustainability and climate resilience. Developed with input from a diverse array of stakeholders, the plan outlines actionable strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and promote sustainable practices across various sectors. Its goal is to create a healthier, more vibrant Cincinnati that is prepared to meet the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.
