Standards Based Instruction Using the GCS

👥 Teachers Grades K-8 | 🎤 Krista Devine

Engaging session focused on Teacher Clarity and implementing standards-based instructional practices. We will be taking a DEEP DIVE into the Graded Course of Study. This session is designed to enhance instructional strategies by unpacking standards, creating clear learning intentions and success criteria, and aligning your teaching practices to support student mastery of essential skills. Together, we will explore practical ways to promote student ownership of learning, ensure consistency in instructional goals, and elevate achievement in all classrooms.

High Impact Teaching Strategies

This session explores research-based instructional practices that have the greatest impact on student learning. Participants will examine High Impact Teaching Strategies that promote engagement, deepen understanding, and improve student achievement across content areas. Through practical examples and collaborative discussion, educators will identify strategies that can be immediately implemented to enhance instruction, strengthen classroom practice, and support all learners.

Executive Functioning – Supporting students with Executive Functioning skills in grades K-2

Executive functioning skills play a critical role in students’ academic achievement, organization, self-regulation, and independence. This professional learning session examines the relationship between executive functioning and learning while exploring practical, grade-appropriate strategies that teachers can embed into daily instruction and classroom routines. Participants will learn how to support students in developing skills such as planning, organization, time management, flexible thinking, and self-monitoring to increase engagement, strengthen learning, and promote long-term academic success.

Building Beautiful Preschool Classrooms that Invite Learning: The Power of a Well-Prepared Environment

This will include practical ideas for organizing and decluttering classrooms, creating meaningful learning centers, designing spaces that promote independence, and building calm, inviting environments that support both learning and faith formation. The physical environment can have such a powerful impact on how children engage with materials, teachers, and one another. There will be an opportunity to share resources and ideas that teachers could immediately implement in their own spaces.

Servants of Hope Introduction

Superintendent Matt Daniels will present an introduction to all new teachers. He will include information about the Servants of Hope program and will answer the question “What does it mean to be a teacher in a Catholic school?”

Implementing the New K-2 Report Card

This professional learning session prepares K–2 teachers to successfully implement the new Archdiocese of Cincinnati (AOC) report card. Participants will explore the structure and purpose of the new grading system, with a focus on the exiting skills aligned to each grade level’s priority standards. Teachers will receive practical guidance, resources, and tools for collecting evidence of student learning, determining proficiency, and communicating student progress effectively to families. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to implement the new report card with confidence and consistency across their classrooms.

Preschool Classroom Management: Time, Competencies, and Behavior Supports

Effective classroom management creates the foundation for meaningful learning in preschool. This professional learning session focuses on intentionally managing instructional time to ensure children have opportunities to develop and demonstrate the required preschool competencies. Participants will also explore Positive Behavior Support (PBS) structures and proactive classroom practices that foster engagement, promote social-emotional development, and create a positive, supportive learning environment where all children can thrive.
