Both Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Augustine Catholic Churches in Jeffersonville, IN are seeking a Coordinator of Family & Youth Evangelization. This is a new and exciting position and is responsible for working in collaboration with the Director of Evangelization & Discipleship to equip families as the first educators of the faith and to guide our youth into a strong, active relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.  This position will develop, implement, support and evaluate family-based formation (CCD/PSR), Sacrament preparation programs (Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation), and youth offerings (youth ministry, retreats, NCYC Conference, etc.) for the Sacred Heart and St. Augustine families with children from Pre-K through 12th grade.  The ideal candidate will bring energy to the position with initiative for implementation of new ideas and continuous improvement.  Must be a practicing Catholic, have a degree in Theology, Evangelization, Catechetics, or equivalent training.  Experience as a catechist, youth minister, or teacher for either adults or children is preferred.

The Coordinator of Family & Youth Evangelization supports the vision of the Catholic Church to recognize and equip the parents as first catechists and draw them and their children to encounter Jesus personally and lead them to become active disciples who are confident in sharing the good news of God’s love to the community and the world.

The Youth Formation Director administrates (designs, develops, directs, and evaluates) a parish catechetical program for young people from pre-school through high school and provides leadership to assist the parish community in building a solid foundation of catechetical and formational ministry and outreach.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Must be a practicing Catholic
  • Must possess a degree in Theology or Education.  A degree in Theology should be from a Catholic University.  Candidates with a degree in Education should have significant course work in Theology.
  • Some classroom experience is a plus
  • Comfort with intergenerational teaching
  • Familiarity with catechetical instructional best practices;
  • Experience and comfort utilizing various forms of technology;
  • Experience managing people
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours;
  • The ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic

The Position: The Director of Evangelization and Adult Faith Formation will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and evaluation of the areas of adult religious formation and education, with a primary focus on evangelization.  Applicant should be a practicing Catholic in good standing; have knowledge of Catholic doctrine and practices; have experience with Catholic doctrines and practices; and have the ability to work together with the Pastor, pastoral staff, catechists, and volunteer teams.  Candidate should have strong interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills

Requirements: Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies or Education with a major focus in Theology or Religious Studies required. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.  Applicant should have two years’ experience in ministry.
