Walking with Moms In Need

Walking with Moms in Need is a national initiative of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to help parishes better support and accompany pregnant and parenting women. Joining in this initiative, parishes across the Archdiocese of Cincinnati are embarking on a Year of Service to assess, expand and communicate resources to moms in need in our communities. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes are called to be “islands of mercy in the midst of a sea of indifference.”

Resources For Moms

“Thank you, women who are mothers! You have sheltered human beings within yourselves in a unique experience of joy and travail. This experience makes you become God’s own smile upon the newborn child, the one who guides your child’s first steps, who helps it to grow, and who is the anchor as the child makes its way along the journey of life.”

– St. Pope John Paul II

To participate in the national initiative to “walk with moms in need,” reach out to a Catholic Church near you. Parishes have been asked to appoint a parish leader to spearhead each community’s efforts, and they will be recruiting volunteers.

A Prayer for Expectant Mothers

O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties. Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion. Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
