ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Abbey of Gethsemani is a Roman Catholic community of 35 Trappist monks located near Bardstown, Kentucky (approximately 1 hour from Louisville and Lexington, KY). Founded in 1848, Gethsemani is the oldest Trappist monastery in the country that is still operating. Trappists have lived, prayed, and worked in this house of the Lord – the proto-abbey of North America – for over 175 years.
Gethsemani Farms has a history at this location by making, packaging, and selling fruitcake and fudge. The primary sales channel is a mail order system that receives orders through mail, phone or website. Order fulfillment is completed in house. Sales for FY 2024 from this operation were more than $2M and total shipments exceeded 35,000.
