Glenmary Home Missioners is seeking a passionate, motivated, and Catholic-minded development professional to serve as Development Director.

SUMMARY

The director of development plays a key role in the advancement of Glenmary’s important mission and purpose. He/she will inspire and lead a department of eight with six direct reports. She/he will be responsible for the planning, coordination, direction, and management of Glenmary’s development department and is directly responsible for the implementation and execution of activities associated all fundraising activities including the major gifts program, annual fund, planned-giving, and any other activities that advance the important work of Glenmary.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership, education and management direction for all staff assigned to the department.
  • Maintains and fosters relationships with a small portfolio of major gift donors/prospects to help determine the best way to secure and/or enhance their giving capacity.
  • Partners with the donor engagement manager to work with a select group of donors.
  • Designs, directs, administers, and evaluates a comprehensive development program which will achieve Glenmary goals that includes but is not limited to direct mail appeals, planned giving programs, major gifts program, mission education and church appeals and grant writing.
  • Manages fundraising resources, including the development of a strategic marketing program consistent with Glenmary’s mission policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Receives, analyzes, and reports on data identifying fundraising successes and/or shortcomings to revise, enhance and/or improve existing programs and campaigns.
  • Develops the overall short and long-range plans for annual giving, sets program goals and objectives in line with the development plan for the organization and manages the budget for all development activities (including phoning donors and direct mail).
  • Works with the annual fund manager to manage the acquisition of new donors including selecting which address lists to rent.
  • Works with the manager of communications to create a communication plan that positions and promotes the annual giving program with its various constituencies (this would include annual report, cultivate, and President’s Friends newsletters). Cooperates with the manager of communications in moving communication products through the various phases of in-house and out-of-house production.
  • Oversees the preparation of appeal mailings and acquisition mailings and/or acknowledgement packages.
  • Maintains contact with other members of management and/or external sources (donors, etc.) as appropriate to achieve departmental goals.

 

This staff position is responsible for developing and delivering Formation and Training to Conference members in the Cincinnati District Council and to others interested in learning more about St. Vincent de Paul.  Formation and Training will include the Ozanam Orientation along with a number of core training modules and other ad hoc modules as required to meet the needs of both new and existing Vincentians and Conferences.  The Formation Coordinator will also be responsible for arranging Conference retreats and spiritual celebrations and liturgies. The Formation Coordinator values and models Vincentian spirituality, friendship and service and acts as a spiritual animator for the District Council, providing mentoring and support to the Conferences as directed by the Director of Conferences and Special Projects.

REPORTS TO:  Director of Conferences and Special Projects

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work closely with the Director of Conferences and Special Projects to define the annual Formation and Training offerings for the Cincinnati District Council, supporting the needs of Vincentians as identified by Conference Assessments, the Strategic Plan, and the foundational documents of the Society.
  2. Plan, promote and deliver Formation and Training events, including the Ozanam Orientation.
  3. Plan and deliver retreats, spiritual celebrations, and liturgies for the Cincinnati District Council.
  4. Assist the Conferences Manager in the planning and execution of other Cincinnati District Council events (e.g., Fellowship Mass & Reception, District Meetings).
  5. Evaluate each Formation and Training event, working toward continual improvement in the events themselves and in the schedule overall.
  6. Create and distribute materials promoting Formation and Training events.
  7. Lead the Cincinnati District Council Formation Committee, including identifying new Committee members and managing quarterly Committee meetings.
  8. Identify potential new presenters and formators and participate in their formation and training.
  9. Support and advocate for growth in Vincentian spirituality throughout the District (Conferences, Outreach Center, and Ozanam Center for Service Learning), to include creating spiritual content for Council communications.
  10. Provide any necessary Formation and Training to support Conference Spiritual Advisors.
  11. Maintain Cincinnati District Council Formation and Training records and report results as requested.
  12. Maintain a library of support materials to enrich Vincentian experience.
  13. Attend Conference meetings as needed in order to reinforce Vincentian spirituality and values.
  14. Prepare prayers, reflections and retreats for Society Board meetings as requested.
  15. Collaborate and support the SVDP Formation and Training needs of the Hamilton and St. Martin Districts as time permits.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience. Preferred degree in Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Religious Education or related field of study.  Vincentian experience is preferred.
  • While SVDP Cincinnati values a diverse workforce, this position’s uniquely Catholic nature requires that the ideal candidate be an observant Roman Catholic with a commitment to the beliefs and culture of the Catholic faith.
  • History of successful program implementation and development; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; an ability to communicate well orally and in writing; and the ability to effectively relate to people of different cultural and economic backgrounds are necessary.
  • Knowledge of adult learning processes.
  • Solid computer skill proficiency including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint); ability to operate training equipment.
  • Schedule flexibility to support weekend and evening activities to equal an average of 25 hours total per week.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to travel offsite as needs of the position dictate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment – adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Remote activities will include presenting, facilitating, and interacting throughout our Council’s geographic footprint. Remote activities could also integrate some work-from-home arrangements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Job duties can primarily be performed from a desk; however there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items up to 35 pounds; ability to drive or otherwise commute to/from and participate in off-site meetings & events is required.

Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery has an immediate opening for a full-time Receptionist.  The position is part of the Family Services Department and reports to the Operations Manager.  Gate of Heaven Cemetery is located at 11000 Montgomery Road, in Cincinnati.

The Receptionist is the front-line voice and face of Gate of Heaven Cemetery for all who contact the office, in person and by phone.  This position involves routine customer service and administrative duties.  The role requires the operation of conventional office equipment along with prevalent and proprietary computer applications.    This role will also include back up support to the office team and will interact with managers, Family Service advisors, visitors, vendors, and other internal and external  personnel.

Qualifications for this position are as follows:

A High School diploma is required, college or prior professional experience is preferred.

The Receptionist must be compassionate, considerate, and exhibit a professional demeanor at all times.  He or she must have excellent communication skills and be highly organized. Excellent listening skills and a service-oriented mindset are essential.   This person must be able to converse and communicate regarding very sensitive issues and be able to maintain confidentiality. The Receptionist must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions and remain focused.  The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is very important.
