Grades 9-12: Intervention Specialist/Full-Time: Saint Ursula Academy, located in East Walnut Hills, is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women, started by the Ursuline Sisters of Cincinnati.

Saint Ursula Academy is searching for a highly organized individual to serve as a full-time Intervention Specialist for our renowned Educational Services program.  This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other specialists.  This position will collaborate with other department members and classroom faculty to provide targeted academic support tailored to high-achieving students with learning differences or disabilities.  In addition, this position will also assist in providing academic support for students whose plans call for individualized instruction.  This person will also be responsible for monitoring student progress, collecting data, and adjusting interventions based on outcomes.  The Intervention Specialist will serve as a liaison between general education, teachers, students, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and support services are in place and facilitate IEP meetings and ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws.  The ideal candidate will be collaborative, an effective communicator, and adaptable to last-minute changes in routines and schedules while contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture that challenges and supports advanced learners with diverse needs.

A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field and a valid Specialist or Special Education license in the state of Ohio is required.  A Master’s degree preferred.  In addition, experience developing and managing IEPs is required with experience at the high school level preferred

Overview:  The office of the Principal has as its primary purpose to provide leadership and expertise to achieve the fullest attainment of the mission and vision of McNicholas High School.  The Principal is the leader of the academic affairs of the school.  The Principal leads the curriculum design and implementation, delivery of instruction, integration of technology, and coordination of programs of professional development.  With the President of the school, the Principal has operational responsibility of the traditions of Catholic Christianity faith and learning within the school.  Administrative tasks include: organization of the school so that appropriate learning can take place, development of a competent faculty with supportive staff, and the development and implementation of a balanced curriculum.  This is performed in collaboration with the administrative team.  Constant communication, cooperation, and teamwork, with the President of McNicholas High School is a necessity.

Qualifications and Experience:  The Principal must be a practicing Catholic in good standing at their parish.  The Principal must be certified and have a valid license for secondary school administration.  Also, must have a minimum of 4 of years of high school administration and teaching experience (preferably in a core academic subject).

 Skills: The Principal’s personal assets should include: warmth, empathy, and excellent communication skills.  Must be humble, yet strong, open but principled, having great kindness. Must have a genuine interest in the lives of the students, vision, and a willingness to grow with the school.  We prefer candidates with experience in a Catholic high school, as well as experience and understanding of a comprehensive high school; must understand both gifted students and those students requiring individual education formats.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guide the school teachings according to the Archdiocesan and local policies.
  • Work toward the creation of a Catholic Christian community within the school.
  • Provide opportunities for liturgical expression and experience for staff and students.
  • Maintain open channels for bidirectional communication within all segments of the school clientele.
  • Show respect for individuals and fairness in dealing with others.

Accountability:

  • To the President of McNicholas High School
  • To the Board of Limited Jurisdiction regarding implementation of curriculum changes, new academic programs, scholastic achievements, as well as student awards and recognitions.
  • To the Board of Limited Jurisdiction on current educational trends, issues, new laws, and other inservice matters that may be useful to the board members.

Supervises: The Director of Curriculum, the Director of Student Life, the Athletic Director (in conjunction with the president), the Counseling and Mental Health staff, all faculty, student services staff, selected non-instructional staff and students.

Leadership of Faculty and Curriculum Development:

  • Hire and assign teachers in accordance with Archdiocesan and State policies.
  • Provide orientation and on-going inservice for the faculty according to their needs.
  • Direct and involve the faculty in a program of philosophy evaluation, curriculum assessment, and planning for instructional improvement.
  • Assist the faculty in the integration of Christian social principles in the curriculum.
  • Promote the growth of the teachers through supervision and evaluation.
  • Diversify the curriculum to serve the scope of abilities, talents, interests, and needs of the students.
  • Be familiar with all texts and instructional materials used throughout the school.
  • Oversee scheduling of classes and daily lesson planning by teachers.

Management of Record Keeping

  • Provide official school reports and statistics as required by Archdiocesan and State regulations.
  • Maintain professional file on each teacher.
  • Responsible for the accurate and current cumulative, attendance, and health records of all students.

Parental Relations:

  • Provide opportunities for regular conferences and meetings of parents and teachers
  • Alert parents to the special needs and/or problems of their children
  • Keep parents informed through regular school bulletins

In addition, this person will also assist the team with evaluating and identifying prospects for the school’s fundraising efforts.  The school currently uses Bloomerang for donor management.  This position requires excellent communications skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.  The Administrative Assistant for Advancement must be proficient with Windows, Microsoft office products, Google documents and donor management and other fundraising software tools.

A High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.   In addition, 2-5 years experience in database management, including entry, building queries, creating and generating reports from a relational database is required.  Bachelor’s Degree and prior work in the Advancement field is preferred.
