Mercy McAuley High School is seeking a dynamic and compassionate science teacher who is committed to educating young women within the Catholic faith tradition and Mercy values. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator who brings content expertise, creativity, and a student-centered approach to the classroom. Courses taught may include chemistry, biology and forensics.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging, standards-based science lessons aligned with department and school-wide goals.
- Incorporate scientific inquiry, hands-on experiments, and real-world applications to foster a rigorous and relevant learning experience.
- Create a classroom culture rooted in respect, belonging, and academic excellence.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with accommodations.
- Collaborate with science department colleagues to ensure curricular alignment and share best practices.
- Integrate technology, data analysis, and lab experiences that support scientific understanding.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and expectations.
- Participate in school life, including attending faculty meetings, student activities, professional development, and faith-based formation opportunities.
- Support and model the Mercy Education Core Values and the mission of Mercy McAuley High School.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.); Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Ohio teaching license
- Demonstrated success in teaching at the high school level
