Our Lady of the Visitation in Cincinnati seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Religious Education (DRE) for a vibrant parish of 2300 families.  The ideal candidate is a faith-filled, enthusiastic individual who has the ability to share their love of Christ and His Church with children and families in a way that will challenge them to reflect more deeply on their faith while fostering an environment of spiritual growth.  Primary responsibilities include: professional communication and interaction with parishioners and staff; implementing a comprehensive faith formation program for children from preschool through 8th grade including Theology of the Body; coordinating and facilitating sacramental preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation; coordinating Parish School of Religion; and recruiting and training catechists.  This individual oversees and works with an assistant.   • Verify weekly cash deposits and recording of donations
  • Oversee weekly invoice and check processing, including compiling monthly credit card bills

  • Assist finance committee with preparation of annual budget

St. Margaret of York Parish, Loveland, Ohio is seeking to fill the full-time position of Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE). The CRE provides catechetical leadership and direction for parish youth faith formation, under the leadership of the Pastor.  The CRE coordinates faith formation for children in grades kindergarten to eighth grade for children not enrolled in the parish school and coordinates preparation for sacramental needs of 2nd grade students for First Reconciliation and First Communion.  The CRE oversees the staff of volunteer catechists. The Associate Director of Social Mission is responsible for the day-to-day management of a Jesuit Family of Parishes’ (Bellarmine Chapel and St. Xavier Church) social mission and outreach initiatives related to the Jesuit’s Universal Apostolic Preference 2, Walking with the Excluded.

With the support and oversight of the Director of Sustainability and Social Mission, the Associate Director works across a variety of related issue-areas, with a focus on addressing poverty, racism, immigration, people living with disabilities, etc.  This position employs the latest digital tools and community organizing best practices to draw new and current parishioners into further in-person encounters with the social mission of the Church. SUMMARY:

The Music Ministry Director gives leadership to the traditional worship services of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish by using the organ/piano to lift the congregation in music for the praise of God. Supervision: The Organist serves under the supervision of the Pastor.

Responsibilities:

  • Select and provide organ music at all traditional weekend Masses
  • Select hymns appropriate in conjunction with the pastor which are reflective of the liturgical season and designated Scripture texts.
  • Coordinate with funeral choir director and choir for Funeral Masses
  • Coordinate with choir director for the Youth Choir
  • Coordinate with the choir director for the Adult Choir
  • Oversee cantor ministry
  • Arrange for a substitute for all absences
  • Choose and purchase organ music within the approved budgetary parameters
  • Work with the Pastor regarding any items that you feel need to be maintained such as tuning and maintenance of all musical instruments of the church outside of the existing scheduled maintenance
  • Provide organ/piano music for weddings held at the church when the organ is the primary instrument used. Fees for these services are not provided by the church, but from couples and families based upon your set fee.
  • Submit budget requests each fall as part of the budgetary process of the Pastoral Council and Finance Committee.

Working Conditions

  • The Organist shall rehearse sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music at the organ.
  • An annual performance review will be done with the Pastor.
  • Cooperate with all staff and musicians of the congregation so that music ministry is enhanced within the life of the church.
  • The Organist shall seek professional relationships with other church musicians and keep abreast of developments in worship and liturgy through associations, continuing education, and professional church publications.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of an associates of Music degree/relevant experience and sufficient keyboard ability to sight read hymns, liturgy, and accompaniments.
  • Knowledge of Catholic worship tradition and a theological understanding of the church sufficient to appropriately select music and texts for traditional worship.
  • Experience as a “team player” in a church setting working with staff, musicians, and volunteers.
