Pre-K-Grade 8: Director of PreK and After School Care/Full time position Salary.

Time: Mondays-Fridays: 9am -5:30pm, some extended times.
Responsible for the overall operation and management of the after-school program, including planning, implementing, and supervising activities, staff, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children. Responsible for all administrative work and grant writing both private and government. Shall work hand in hand with the principal and the Business Manager.

* Program Planning and Implementing:
– Create and maintain a safe, positive, and stimulating environment for children.
– Ensure the program adheres to relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.

* Supervision and Guidance:
– Supervise children during all activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

* Communication and Engagement:
– Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding schedules, activities, and any concerns.

* Operations and Logistics:
– Adhere to programs, budget, student attendance, billing and collections– Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff in consultation with the Principal and Pastor.

* Safety and Security:
– Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols.

* Qualifications:
– Experience working with children in an after-school or childcare setting is highly desirable. Administrative skills and grant writing know how.

The Principal serves as the chief Faith, academic, community, and operational leader of St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School, which serves students in grades pre-k through 8.  It is a multi-cultural and multi-national community.  The Principal, as a faith leader, shares the Pastor’s vision of using the school as a tool for evangelization and serves as a faith witness to the school and parish community.  The principal acts as the chief spokesperson for the school and ensures that the school authentically reflects the teaching of the Church, the initiatives of the archdiocese, and the needs of the families it serves.

CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE:
The role of Principal requires the following skills and experience to ensure effectiveness in the position: A minimum of master’s degree in education or any other field with some years of teaching experience. Principal license will be a plus; with some skills in administration and leadership; preferably within an inner-city setting; Demonstrated strong public relations skills, including verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work collaboratively; Ability to work in a complex organizational setting; Proficiency in communication techniques; Must be a practicing Catholic with a personal faith commitment.

REPORTS TO: The Principal reports directly to the Pastor, who provides spiritual guidance and support.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership, oversight, and accountability for the Faith, academic, community, and operational programs of the school.
  • As the Principal, you will play a crucial role in upholding the quality of the school’s Catholic identity, ensuring that it authentically reflects the teachings of the Church. Your commitment to this aspect of the role will be instrumental in shaping the spiritual growth of our students and the ethos of our school community.
  • The Principal maintains a strong religious instruction program, frequent religious worship and prayer opportunities, and engaging service programs for students.
  • Monitors the school’s academic program to ensure the highest possible quality of teaching and learning.
  • Performs classroom observations and regular evaluations of instructional staff and shares with the Pastor for some future recommendations.
  • Monitors the school’s Technology Plan to ensure instruction utilizes the best information technology.
  • Oversee the OCSAA accreditation process, including re-accreditation, monitoring of goals, and filing of necessary OCSAA reports.
  • Nurtures, encourages and monitors the ongoing professional development of all staff.
  • As the Principal, you will be responsible for maintaining an atmosphere of respect and good conduct throughout the body of students, parents, Teachers, and volunteers. Your leadership in this area will significantly contribute to the positive culture of our school.
  • Monitors all extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, including After School Care, to ensure that they offer vibrant opportunities for students that are reflective of the school’s Catholic identity and applicable laws and policies.
  • Appropriate high schools provide information and encouragement to allow graduates to enter a Catholic high school.
  • As the Principal, you will be the key communicator of the values, needs, efforts, and accomplishments of the school with supporters and members of the parish and surrounding community. Your effective communication will help to foster a strong sense of community and support for our school.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor the school’s strategic plan in consultation with the Pastor and Education Commission.
  • Monitors, promulgates and revises the school’s policies in consultation with the Pastor and Education Commission.
  • The Business Manager provides an oversight of the school’s financial plan, including fundraising, development, and budgeting.
  • Provides oversight for the proper functioning of the school’s physical facility. Monitors the school’s facilities plan. Ensure that all facilities are safe and compliant with relevant laws and policies.
  • Nurtures a well-developed recruitment plan for new students. Ensures that this plan is compliant with applicable Archdiocesan and state policies.
  • Maintains positive communications with parishioners, alumni, donors, and other supporters to maximize support for the school.
  • Meets regularly with the Pastor to discuss the school’s quality, policies, and operations.
  • Meets regularly with School Educational Commission to receive feedback on the school’s quality, policies, and strategic plan.
  • Regularly conducts faculty meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Attends Archdiocesan Principals’ Meetings, School Cluster Meetings, and other meetings required by the archdiocese.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
