One Church, one family - Ohio

Catholic public witness for immigrants

Call to Action

On October 22 and November 13, 2025, Catholics across the U.S. are invited to join in a national day of public witness for our immigrant brothers and sisters. This effort builds on the binational mass at the
U.S.-Mexico Border in San Luis, just 10 days earlier, in which Bishops from both countries will call attention to the urgent crisis facing migrants.

National partners have created a movement – One Church | One Family – to bring us together in prayer, standing up for justice and compassion.

location

Here in Ohio, we’re asking every diocese to gather on Thursday, November 13, to stand in solidarity with our immigrant and refugee sisters and brothers.

We will raise our voices in prayer and song, and we will commit to honoring and protecting the dignity and lives of those facing deplorable treatment and inhumane rhetoric.

Please see below for the primary and secondary locations in each diocese. We encourage everyone to join in person at their diocese’s primary location, but we also recognize that gathering folks together at a secondary location might be best. If you’d like to host a secondary location, please email us with the information and we will add it to the list below.

For those who cannot join in person, we will be offering a statewide virtual service at 12:00pm that afternoon. You can access that gathering here

content

Our events will contain two main elements: the rosary and a pledge to action.

Here are some Program Resources to get you started:

  • Basic sample program
  • Prayerful Witness for Immigrants program script and outline with the Mysteries and Cabrini Pledge in English and Spanish.
  • Editable program documents for Prayerful Witness for Immigrants in English and Spanish.
  • Simple text only program documents for Prayerful Witness for Immigrants in English and Spanish.

1. For the rosary, there are two options:

2. The Cabrini Pledge – an invitation to be keepers of hope.

  • To affirm, in word and deed, the inherent dignity of every person, regardless of immigration status or country of origin, seeing each as a child of God before all else.

  • To engage with Scripture and the Church’s social teaching, reflecting on the role of migration in salvation history, the history of the United States, and the history of my own family.

  • To listen and learn about the circumstances facing migrants and refugees, including those in my community, with an open heart and mind.

  • To seek opportunities for encounter, so as to grow in deeper understanding and communion that leads to an authentic solidarity with those in need.

  • To consider what it means to be a good neighbor and how I am called to reflect the love and hope of Christ to others.

  • To encourage civic dialogue that places the human person and the sanctity of families at the center of policymaking, especially toward the end of meaningful immigration reform.

  • To join with Pope Leo in praying for all migrants and refugees as fellow travelers on the journey to our true homeland.

These components can be augmented with song, witness, prayer, and calls to action.
