Background: St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs assistance such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through the organization’s Neyer Outreach Center in the West End and through 53 parish-based volunteer Conferences. SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity and compassion.

Scope of Position: The Giving Officer is responsible for identifying and researching prospective donors, recruiting new donors, managing and cultivating relationships with existing donors, and securing financial support for the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Manage portfolio of organizational donors; develop good understanding of donors’ philanthropic goals and preferences and provide giving opportunities that support these goals
  2. Build strong relationships with donors within portfolio and collaborate with Board, Committee, and Team members in strategic ways to support relationship building efforts for other donors
  3. Drive awareness of SVDP, its mission, programs, and needs with portfolio donors through the use of engaging techniques, including hosting visits to SVDP’s Neyer Outreach Center
  4. Secure mid-level, major, and planned gifts to support the organization’s annual needs, as well as one-time campaigns or special efforts
  5. Oversee the qualification of donors as prospects for major gifts, planned gifts, sponsorships, grants, event support, or more by utilizing a prospect research database and analyzing and sharing outcomes
  6. Support organization-wide stewardship efforts, including donor events, strategic mailings and more
  7. Perform other duties as needed for the External Relations Department

Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years experience in the fundraising field or in a similar field with portfolio management experience
  • Excellent capacity to actively listen and build strong relationships
  • Strong time management, organizational, analytical, and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Thorough understanding of the development field, especially relationship-based fundraising and fundraising (or CRM) databases (DonorPerfect preferred)
  • Goal oriented, self starter, with ability to work with minimal supervision and see projects through
  • Proven ability to create, grow, and retain strong donor relationships
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul
  • Availability to work some event-related evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Established network and relationships within Cincinnati, ideal

Physical Requirements: Job duties can primarily be performed from a desk using standard office equipment. Occasional requirement to lift items of 20 pounds for special events.

The COO will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the functional leaders in the diocesan curia, and will ensure that they work together on diocesan priorities as a coordinated team. We seek an individual who is a business leader, with both the professional expertise to run the operational side of the curia and the personal commitment to advance the mission of the Church of Covington. Reporting directly to the Bishop, the COO will not only have responsibility for the strategic, programmatic, and administrative management of the offices of the curia, but will also assist the Bishop with the development and implementation of his vision for our local Church. The COO will provide strategic vision and leadership as a core thought partner for the Bishop, supporting him in making significant decisions by leading the analysis, criteria-setting, option evaluation, and input gathering for these decisions. The COO will be a faith-filled, actively-practicing Catholic with a solid understanding of Church life and relationships, as well as demonstrated strong skills in strategy and analysis, change management, outcome-focused priority- and goal-setting, teamwork and collaboration, consensus-building, organizational management, and communication. S/he will have a minimum of ten years of senior leadership experience, with at least a graduate-level degree in an appropriate area. Significant ministry formation and experience would be helpful.

Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology seeks a full-time, experienced bookkeeper. This person works in collaboration with the CFO and President of the institution in facilitating the day-to-day operations of the seminary and school of theology programs and the departments in support of the overall mission of the institution. The person filling this position must have minimum of 2 years practical experience with keeping accounts and ledger entries in fulfillment of the following areas of responsibility:

Areas of Responsibility

  • Accounts payable: invoicing, check preparation and mailing
  • Accounts receivable: billing, collection, recording and reconciliation
  • Deposits
  • Journal entries, monthly closing entries, and reconciliation
  • Assist with Payroll
  • Monthly Bank reconciliations
  • Maintain files of the above.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

St. Paul Catholic Center, the Newman Center and parish at Indiana University, Bloomington, is hiring a Coordinator of Development.  This position primarily manages the center’s development and stewardship program, which is designed to enhance the spiritual and moral development of our student and resident parishioners. This position also leads initiatives to thank and recognize donors for their philanthropic generosity.  This position is also responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting a targeted pool of donors, producing and disseminating parish print and electronic newsletters, disseminating the parish’s annual fund direct mail fundraising program, and assisting with other programs and initiatives as needed in order to grow our ministry.  The position could be based in Bloomington or done remotely.

Gate of Heaven Cemetery is seeking a full-time Cemetery Worker/Operator to perform responsible semi-skilled work in the repair, maintenance, and care of its grounds, landscape and related structures.

Duties of this position may include:

  1. Running a backhoe and coordinating the grave crew. Must have experience in digging graves.
  2. Prepares gravesites for interments and assists in loading/unloading caskets.
  3. Repairs graves that have settled.
  4. Install markers, crypt, and niche plaques.
  5. Removes flowers and related items from cemetery grounds as directed.
  6. Works safely and complies with the Cemetery’s operating procedures, including proper use of protective equipment.
  7. Effectively works with others to accomplish tasks.
  8. Shows respect and sensitivity toward visiting families while working in a physically demanding environment.
  9. Additional tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
  2. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with an acceptable driving history.
  3. Cemetery work experience is a plus.
  4. Must be able to operate light duty, motorized equipment.
  5. Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
  6. Must be able to work as a team member.
  7. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and visiting families.

 

Additional Requirements:

  1. Must be able to pass a background check/drug test.
  2. Must be able to stay compliant with the Archdiocesan administered protection policy.
  3. Periodic overtime and/or routine weekend work may be required.
