The Community of the Good Shepherd is currently taking applications for a part-time (15 hours a week) Coordinator of Sacramental Preparation and Children’s Liturgy of the Word. The primary function of this position is sacramental preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, and First Eucharist. This position is also responsible for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word program.

Major responsibilities for this position are listed below.

  • Provide/lead Baptism instruction, schedule Baptisms, schedule presiders for the Sacrament of Baptism, schedule of coordinators for the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism.
  • Schedule teachers for Children’s Liturgy of the Word, supervise the program on
    Sundays and prepare reflections for the children.
  • First Reconciliation: prepare the calendar for classes, host Parent and Child Dinner as well as give a talk, prepare two workshops for the children, supervise volunteer teachers, plan the First Reconciliation service as well as secure additional priests for the service, assure that all children are baptized members of the parish, and that they are adequately prepared for reception of the sacrament.
  • First Eucharist: preparing the calendar, hosting parent and child dinner and giving presentation, preparing for three separate First Eucharist groups (each group has one workshop, one retreat, one practice and one celebration), supervise volunteer teachers, planning liturgies, assuring children are adequately prepared for reception of the sacrament, tutor special needs children in their sacramental preparation, and secure supplies necessary for workshops and retreats.
  • Schedule assisting priests for Reconciliation Services during Advent and Lent.
  • Provide backup for weekend Mass help.

This position requires good communication and organization skills, knowledge of Theology of Sacraments, Mass, liturgies, and experience with public speaking. A certificate through the Archdiocese and experience teaching children are desired. This is a part-time position, 15 hours a week working in an office environment.

St. Thomas More Parish and School has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician position.  This is a full time, 12-month position with benefits.  This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and assists with the maintenance and repair of property, equipment and grounds. Responsibilities include but are not limited to custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, trash removal and freshening up restrooms; maintaining floors including stripping and waxing as needed; lifting/moving heavy equipment and furniture.  The ideal candidate should have a basic knowledge of using hand tools and be able to respond to daily maintenance issues while prioritizing tasks.

The Petersburg Region (NW-4) has a full time position for Director of Liturgical Music, for Immaculate Conception (Botkins) and St Lawrence (Rhine). The Director of Liturgical Music serves the parish as principal musician, organist, and choir director according to the highest professional standards established by this profession.

Responsibilities include playing the organ for weekend  and holy day parish liturgical celebrations, coordinating and accompanying parish choral groups, training, directing and scheduling cantors and providing music for weddings, funerals and other events.  This role further acts as the liturgical Life coordinator for the Petersburg Parishes, scheduling Liturgical Ministers and ensuring they are properly trained. The successful candidate will be a member of the Pastoral Team, actively participating in liturgy preparation groups and other pastoral staff activities.

We are seeking enthusiastic and organized candidates for the position of Pastoral Associate for Children’s Faith Formation for our dynamic parish of 2,700 families.  The primary responsibility for this position is the coordination of the Parish School of Religion (PSR), including sacramental preparation for first eucharist and reconciliation, for the children of St. John.  Additionally, this position will assist in the coordination of PSR across the Tri-County Catholics family of parishes (St. John, St. Michael and St. Gabriel). There are also responsibilities for creating and monitoring a budget, working as a member of the Pastoral Team on other parish activities in addition to working with the Youth Minister on Junior High Youth Ministry activities.

Successful candidates will be proficient with outlook software and familiar with database management software. Candidates must be practicing Catholics with an undergraduate degree (masters preferred) in education, theology or pastoral ministry.  Previous experience in education and knowledge of Spanish are helpful.
