Director of Finance
This position establishes financial internal controls in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and establishes that resources are aligned to support Archbishop Alter High School’s strategic plan.  The Director of Finance is responsible to the Principal/CEO and/or President.  He/she is a member of the Principal’s administrative team and the President’s leadership team. Positions reporting directly to the Director of Finance include the Assistant Business Manager, Payroll Specialist, and Cafeteria Manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND HUMAN RESOURCES INCLUDE:

– Works with the President, Principal, Staff, Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees and Faculty to develop and prepare annual budget.
– Prepares and submits budget, budget updates and financial statements to the Archdiocese.
– Prepares monthly financial statement for current operations.
– Oversees the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.
– Develops internal controls for areas where financial transactions take place (Spirit Shop, Cafeteria, Etc.)
– Optimizes investment and interest earnings.
– Balances checkbooks and reconciles with monthly financial statements.
– Reports financial position to President, Principal, and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees on a regular basis.
– Reports monthly revenues and expenses compared to budget by department to each department head.
– Works with outside auditors to complete annual financial review, maintaining compliance with GAAP.
– Works with and provides financial information to Advancement department to effectively steward funds raised through annual and capital fundraising.
– Provides employee benefit programs information to personnel.
– Tracks and reports paid and unpaid absence time for both employees and auxiliary staff.
– Attends Archdiocesan business meetings.
– Assures State cost reimbursement forms are submitted.
– Analyzes and recommends annual tuition rates to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
– Works with the Principal to award tuition scholarships.
– Prepares financial aid requests and submits to the outside tuition management company.
– Manages and oversees the filing of purchase orders regarding the ordering and spending of Auxiliary funds in conjunction with the Principal.
– Works with the President and Principal in determining annual increases in faculty and staff compensation.
– Prepares annual employment contracts for faculty.
– Oversees the preparation and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for payroll pension, 1099’s,and W-2’s.
– Serves in an advisory capacity to booster organizations.
– Performs other duties as directed by the Principal/CEO and/or President.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize a variety of during- and after-school service-learning programs and experiences for students.
  • Lead and coordinate faith-based reflections of service programs to enhance student understanding and experiences of community service.
  • Organize the summer service trip program.
  • Ensure timely completion and reporting of required student involvement in community service experiences.
  • Support all Campus Ministry activities, including retreats, liturgies, prayer services, faith sharing groups, and more.
  • Work closely with House Deans and Athletic Department to offer service opportunities to all students.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local non-profit organizations and community partners.
  • Develop, foster, and empower student leadership

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in pastoral ministry, theology, or a related field.
  • Experience in organizing and leading service opportunities which are rooted in Catholic social teaching.
  • Ability to relate to and motivate high school-aged males in service to others.
  • Skilled in collaboration with small groups to create and implement programs.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible time schedule, including occasional evening, weekend, and overnight hours.

Compensation, Benefits and Hiring

Salary is based upon Moeller’s Teacher-Minister scale, tied to education and years of service in a Catholic High School. The Annual Giving Manager is a full-time, 12 month position that reports to the Director of Development and will oversee all facets of the MND Annual Fund.
