Mercy McAuley Spirit Shop Manager

Position Summary
The Spirit Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of the school’s spirit shop, ensuring a welcoming retail environment that promotes school pride and serves students, families, alumnae, and the broader community. This role manages inventory, coordinates volunteers, collaborates with vendors, and supports school groups with spirit wear needs.

Key Responsibilities
Spirit Shop Operations
• Supervise, coordinate, and maintain all aspects of the spirit shop’s day-to-day
operations
• Ensure the shop is organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing
• Establish and maintain regular hours of operation

Inventory & Sales Management
• Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and restocking merchandise
• Track sales and maintain accurate records of transactions
• Prepare and complete weekly cash and check deposits in accordance with school policies
• Evaluate product performance and recommend adjustments to inventory

Online Store Management
• Work with vendor to maintain and update the online store platform, including product listings and availability

Volunteer Coordination
• Recruit, train, schedule, and manage a team of volunteers to staff the shop
• Foster a positive and collaborative volunteer environment

Vendor Relations
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors
• Coordinate product ordering, negotiate pricing when appropriate, and ensure timely delivery

• Initiate and collaborate with vendors on new spirit wear designs that reflect school branding and trends, including securing feedback from students
• Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to bring new products to market

• Work with Director of Marketing to promote new items, store hours, special sales, etc.
• Ensure that all products and designs adhere to Mercy McAuley’s brand guidelines.

Collaboration with School Community
• Partner with clubs, teams, and school departments to support spirit wear needs
• Assist groups in selecting, ordering, and distributing customized apparel

Qualifications
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience in retail, inventory management, or merchandising preferred
• Ability to manage and motivate volunteers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions
• Familiarity with online retail platforms and basic technology tools
• Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the school

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move boxes of merchandise (up to 25 pounds)
• Ability to stand for extended periods during shop hours

Work Schedule
• Schedule may fluctuate depending on school events. Approximately 8-10 hours per week during the school year and some weeks during the summer.
