The new Young Adult Disabilities Group, also known as PIE, gathers to celebrate Mass and enjoy fellowship, fostering a strong sense of inclusion, community, and belonging. This group was founded on a strong desire to create a community for young adults with disabilities and their families. After meeting with a group of parents in the Dayton area, I reached out to the Dayton Catholic Young Adult (DCYA) group leader to ask if PIE could attend the monthly candlelit Mass and share space in the undercroft at Our Lady of the Rosary, Dayton. DCYA leaders welcomed our group to attend Mass and invited PIE to join them in fellowship. PIE meets as a small group and then joins the DCYA for pizza and dessert. Our first two meetings have truly been a blessing. Parents and caregivers attend with their son or daughter and have an opportunity to share resources and ways to grow in faith.
PIE parents and caregivers are planning opportunities for volunteering, socializing, and spiritual growth. Would you like to join this group or start a PIE Young Adult Group in your deanery? I am happy to help you. Contact me at laverion@catholicaoc.org.
Please join each month on the 3rd Thursday from 6:30-8:30 at Our Lady of the Rosary (22 Notre Dame Ave, Dayton, OH 45404). Candlelit Mass at 6:30, meeting and fellowship immediately following in the undercroft. A monetary donation for the pizza or a dessert is appreciated.
