Project Rachel needs your help. For those who may be unfamiliar, Project Rachel refers to the abortion healing ministry offered by the Archdiocese. With Jesus Christ as the foundation, we offer a wide variety of resources and healing opportunities for women and men who have suffered after abortion. From support groups, retreats, pastoral accompaniment with priests, and counseling with licensed professionals, Project Rachel works to bring God’s mercy and love to those who need it most.
As with any ministry we cannot do this work alone. Christ in his generosity has made us collaborators in his mission of healing. As St. Augustine said, “God created us without us: but he did not will to save us without us”. Our prayers are powerful. They not only transform our own hearts, but by God’s grace, they can cause real change, consolation, and healing in the hearts of those we intercede for.
Grace is needed at every step on the journey of healing. From the grace and courage needed to call our helpline for the first time, to the grace needed to show up for a retreat, it is vitally important that we are praying for these women and men as they engage in a very real spiritual battle within the depths of their hearts.
I ask each of you to sincerely consider joining our prayer team. Practically speaking, joining this team means that you will dedicate certain prayers or times of prayer for an intention or person in our Project Rachel ministry network. We will need prayers for those who have yet to seek healing, prayers for those who we are currently working with us, prayers for our priests, and prayers for our team members. We have many concrete and practical ways in which we will ask you to join us in prayer, some of which will include participating in novenas, rosaries, holy hours, divine mercy chaplets, and the offering of spiritual bouquets.
When you elect to join our prayer team you will be added to a mailing list that will update you on a routine but not overwhelming basis, informing you about our current prayer needs and the ways that you can get involved to the degree you are able. All communications will maintain strict confidentiality due the nature of our ministry, but we will do our best to share what we can when appropriate so that you may know the object and purpose of your intentions.
