This month’s WORD OF LIFE highlights the beautiful vocation of motherhood and the gift of life. As always, it includes the Mother’s Day Action Guide and Novena for Life listed below, as well as bulletin quotes and graphics, and intercessions for life to be used each Sunday at your parish. As always, there is also a SPANISH version available.
2 | Mother’s Day Action Guide
The Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities created a MOTHER’S DAY ACTION GUIDE featuring ways to celebrate the vocation of motherhood, while simultaneously recognizing that Mother’s Day can be a difficult holiday for couples struggling with infertility; parents who have lost a child; those who have lost their mothers; anyone suffering because of participation in abortion, and others. The included homily notes provide considerations for honoring mothers while showing sensitivity and compassion to all who find this holiday particularly challenging.
3 | Novena for Life
The NOVENA FOR LIFE begins on May 22nd and ends the day before the Feast of the Visitation on May 31st. This feast commemorates the Blessed Mother’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth, and the encounter Jesus and John the Baptist had while in the wombs of their mothers. The Respect Life novena is in honor of this feast. Available in English and Spanish.
4 | No Tax Money for Death
In response to the introduction of HOUSE BILL 72 and SENATE BILL 134, the Catholic Bishops of Ohio SENT A LETTER to members of the 136th General Assembly urging them to uphold a consistent ethic of life by prohibiting the State of Ohio from funding the intentional termination of human life––including abortion, euthanasia, and execution––and to abolish the death penalty in favor of life without parole.
